Do you believe that patient health matters more than ever?

Yes, dentistry was treated like any other business when lockdown began in 2020. Dental practices were shut like pubs instead of recognised as healthcare providers that can communicate, test or even provide vaccines for their patients. How did this make sense when 33 million people in the UK see a dental professional?
Now, 15 months later, patients are seeking out dental appointments in record numbers not seen since 2006!
The pandemic has taught us that our health matters more than ever. People with underlying conditions like cardiovascular disease, diabetes and obesity have a 2-3x higher chance of experiencing increased effects of Covid and mortality.
If dental professional provided a blood pressure check for every patient this would radically change the number of people undiagnosed with high blood pressure.
Studies have shown that one in three adults in the UK has high blood pressure. In England, 31% of men and 26% of women have high blood pressure. Half of people with high blood pressure are not diagnosed or receiving treatment. In England alone, there are more than five million people that are undiagnosed.
More than 590,000 UK citizens go undiagnosed with diabetes.
With dentistry seeing more patients than most other health professionals, is only makes sense to offer preventative health screens that save lives, bridge the gap for dentistry and add more value for your patients and practice.
Dental Focus & Total Health Screens have joined forces to show that dentistry is more than just teeth.
Total Health Screens champions dental practices to show how oral and general health are connected and equips dental practices to implement a spectrum of preventative health screens for their patients.
Stay tuned as there’s more news to come on how Dental Focus and Total Health Screens are changing lives, healthcare and taking dentistry to a new level!
